  • Members may demonstrate an interesting programme or a new piece of technology.
  • Members are free to request a particular tutorial presentation by a tutor.
  • Visiting tutors may give a special glass e.g Genealogy.

WORKSHOPS

CCC Workshop

These are held twice per term, usually on the fifth and tenth week of term (we don’t have classes during school holidays).

They are all day classes, so bring your lunch and meet people from other classes.

We use the projector and screen so that we can demonstrate new programmes, preview upcoming classes, share downloads (bring your flash drive with you).

Questions and Answers. This is your chance to ask about anything that’s worrying you and hear other members’ problems and suggestions.

We may also pull a computer apart and look at what makes it tick or demonstrate the machine we have to let you convert your old LPs into CDs.

We look at new gadgets and new technology, and visit new websites that might interest members.

We connect two laptops to Skype phones and let members make phone calls with webcams working. This is of special interest to members with family located far away.

ANIMATION

Age is no barrier to learning the computer. Our members are mainly retirees but younger residents are warmly welcomed.

Classes cover a range of skill levels from absolute “I-don’t-know-how-to-turn-it-on” beginners to old hands who want to brush up on techniques or learn new programmes.

Our tutors are self-taught seniors who remember what it’s like to be faced with a frightening new technology.

The emphasis is on enjoying learning to use your computer and you’ll quickly relax and make new friends.

Our social director, Dawn, arranges well-attended lunches every six weeks or so,

at local restaurants (complete with ‘door prizes’) and we always have time for a coffee break at classes.

So, if you want to have some fun, meet some new people and learn how to use your computer, ring the Centre on 5593 7006 and book in to our classes.

If you aren’t sure which class is the best for you, ring  Naomi on 5598 8398 and have a chat.

We look forward to having you join us.

CCC Lunch

SOCIAL EVENTS

Our Social Director, Dawn, arranges lunches at various venues on a regular basis, usually every six weeks.

About 30 members usually attend and everyone enjoys sharing lunch, a glass or two and a chat. Getting to know your fellow class members and hoping to win one of the door prizes adds to the fun.

We have a barbeque from time to time at the Centre, usually on a workshop day. Our members Bruce and Margaret are our BBQ experts and Bruce doubled up as Santa Clause at our Xmas lunch.

In all our classes the emphasis is on enjoying the learning process. The social aspect is as important as the educational one.

Come and join us and if you wish, offer to help the teaching or the social events. Volunteering is a very rewarding pastime.
