Community Garden

Community Garden at Varsity Lakes, Gold CoastVarsity Vegies is a group of residents, who, with the help of Gold Coast City Council maintain the garden in Jim Harris Park, off Mattocks Road in Varsity Lakes.

Monthly meetings are held to plan the organic garden with new members welcome to join and receive their own 3x3 metre garden upon completion.

The Varsity Vegies community garden is wheelchair friendly with raised beds for those who need them. There will be security fencing around the area, a large shed for tools, workshop and meeting space. The garden is available for your use from dawn to dusk 7 days a week.

How to become a member

Any Gold Coast resident is welcome to become a member and have their own plot for flowers, fruit or vegetables, garden beds allocated as you join in, with future extension when needed. To become a member simply fill out Varsity Vegies Membership form. Annual Membership is $25.  A charge of $10 key deposit refundable when you no longer require garden. The plot is yours until you no longer need it. The Varsity Vegies by-laws outline guidelines for the use of the community garden.

Other Activities

Get togethers for members such as BBQs, morning teas, cooking demonstrations, workshops etc will be organised periodically.


We are setting up a gardening library, any books would be greatly appreciated, these can be left at VLCRC.

All ideas for workshops, information days etc. would be great.
