Brie Sourdough and Lactic Fermentation workshops on Sun 31st July 2016 - Time 9.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm at Varsity Lakes Community Resource Centre, Jim Harris Park, Mattocks Road, Varsity Lakes.
Brie and Sourdough bread:  Learn how to make your own delicious brie cheese from cow's milk as well as easy to make easy sourdough bread. Hands on participation from the class will show how to make brie cheese, and sourdough bread from scratch. Handouts and sourdough starter included with brie cheese and sourdough bread for morning tea.  Time 9.30am-12.30pm
Lactic fermentation of vegetables, fruits and beverages:  Lactic or wild fermentation is a very natural and wild fermentation method that creates zillions of lactic bacteria that are a wonderful source of pro biotics for your inner health.  Learn how to make easy ferments for yourself such as sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented tomato sauce, fermented fruit paste, raisin chutney, cucumber pickles, fermented polenta fingers, nuca doca, as well as kombucha tea, bett kvass and ginger beer.  Participants will be making these ferments by demonstration and every one will take home sauerkraut made on the day.  All foods and beverages will be available for taste testing with handouts including all the recipes.  Time 1.30pm-4.30pm
Cost is $60 per workshop or $110 for both workshops.  Includes sourdough starter and handouts. 
Cheese cultures available for $5 each.  Home cheese making DVD $35 and Fermenting book $25.-

Seniors Expo 2016
Invitation to all present and future seniors for Seniors' Expo 2016 on Thurs 11th August at 10am at Varsity Lakes Community Resource Centre, Jim Harris Park, Mattocks Road, Varsity Lakes.
Come and meet the service providers for:-

care in your home, advocacy, transport, residential care, home maintenance, respite, mobility equipment, meals and shopping.                              

 We open at 10am , with exibition stalls in our hall.  Our presenters will explain your rights and responsibilities in relation to aged care and community care service provision at 10.15am.  All questions are welcome.

At 12 noon you are welcome to join us for a light lunch.  Please ring 55937006 - your booking is essential for catering.  No cost. 

Want to GET FIT and have FUN  at the same time? Zumba is a great way to DANCE your way to a healthier you. Every Monday at the Centre from 6.30pm-7.30pm.  Cost $10.  For more information please call Sharon on 0419674191.
Spanish Class

Tuesday Beginners Class - start date: Tues 13th Sept 2016 - Time 9am-11am - 8 week courses - one class per week. Term finishes on Tues 1st Nov 2016.

Step Up Loans

St Vincent de Paul Society Step Up Loans:  are low coast loans up to $3000 (no cash loans) for people living on a low income.  It is for buying or repairing a motor vehicle, the purchase of furniture/white goods, medical or educational expenses.  Jo, the Microfinance Officer is at the Centre every 4th Tues of the month from 10am-3pm.  For bookings and enquiries, please call Jo Alcorn on (07) 55145306 or 0427619718.

We are looking for volunteer walkers in the Burleigh Waters and Varsity Lakes areas to deliver our quaterly newsletter to people's homes.
